Did You Know?  That over 350,000,000 doses of the new Novel Oral Polio Vaccine Type 2 have been used in eighteen countries in an attempt to avoid or stop outbreaks of Circulating Vaccine Derived Polio Type 2? 

Ukraine

Thanks to all of you who made a donation to The Rotary Foundation’s Disaster Response Fund to support Ukraine.  Your funds will be used to help the over six million refugees fleeing their homes in Ukraine.  A total of over $15 million was donated by Rotarians worldwide prior to April 30, 2022.  Ninety Disaster Response Grants totaling $2.4 Million have already been distributed.

New Polio Cases & Samples This Week – Djibouti – 2 cVDPV2 Samples, Egypt – 1 cVDPV2 Sample, Eritrea – 1 cVDPV2 (2021) Case, Ghana – 2 cVDPV2 Samples, Madagascar – 4 cVDPV1 Cases, Nigeria – 2 cVDPV2 Cases + 5 Samples, Pakistan – 2 WPV1 Cases, Yemen – 28 cVPV2 Cases. 

2021 Circulating Vaccine Derived Polio Cases -689 in 22 Countries.  

2020 Circulating Vaccine Derived Polio Cases – 1,110 in 26 countries in 2020.
